Kuala
Lumpur – The chairman of Komite Olimpiade Indonesia (KOI), Erick Thohir is
disappointed about the mistake of Indonesia flag picture which is reversed in
SEA Games guidebook XXIX/2017,
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In page 80 of that book, the flag of Indonesia was reversed and became white red. The position of Indonesia’s flag was next on Malaysia’s flag. Indonesia's flag printed upside down is actually to signify the country that has hosted the SEA Games.
In the below of Indonesia’s flag was clearly visible about the years when Indonesia became the host of SEA Games 1979, 1987, 1997, and 2011.
The misprinted accident was only happened on Indonesian’s
flag. Meanwhile, the rest of SEA Games participant flags were printed well.
“Of course I express my deep disappointed for the fatal
mistake. It shows negligence and inaccuracy. Although friendship is the
greatest legacy in sport, but the mistake in presenting the identity of another
country, still cannot be accepted. Although this happens in the world of
sports, do not let things interfere with the relationship between countries
because of things like this,” said Erick.
“We will deliver a protest note and objection to the NOC
President of Malaysia, Tunku Imran and Secretary General, Beng Chop Low on this
matter, as well as requesting the book to be withdrawn from circulation and
replaced by the correct loading of the Red and White flag,” said Erick.
